Najam Sethi takes oath as caretaker CM Punjab

LAHORE: Senior journalist Najam Sethi Wednesday took oath as the caretaker chief minister of Punjab, a night after being named as the head of the caretaker provincial cabinet of the most important federating unit of Pakistan.



The oath was administered to Najam Sethi by Governor Punjab Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood. 
Speaking to the media following the oath taking ceremony, Sethi said the caretaker administration had the agenda of implementing the orders of the Election Commission, judiciary and ensure that elections are held in a transparent manner.
“Journalists will be my eyes and ears and keep me informed of problems in the province.”
The caretaker chief minister sent a message to the administration and bureaucrats in Punjab that incompetence and corruption would not be tolerated.
According to Sethi no relatives or friends of his would be allowed any undue advantage during his tenure, adding that action would be taken against individuals who use his name to seek favoritism.
“I attach greatest importance to the issue of law and order,” Sethi said. There will be zero tolerance for violence against minorities, the caretaker chief minister added.
Commenting on the formation of the caretaker provincial cabinet, Sethi said no political personality would be included.
